im from san jose ca and i been spending countless hours surfing the web trying to find an answer to my problem....my lg optimus is stuck on mute and i dont know what i did...i downloladed avg cause i had a virus.....

You might want to check out the LG optimus section (not sure which model you have but we have several sections for them)

One thing you could try (if all else fails) is a factory reset.

I don't want to sound like master of the obvious, but have you tried pressing the up volume button?

Also if you press and hold the power button on of the options is to turn sound on or off.
