Hi Im new here and have some questions

DAWHIPPA

Lurker
Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy note 3 and i have a problem. My phone has downloaded a few Things without my permission. Among these things were a dating app I believe it was called meet sexy singles or something to that effect a picture a half naked woman which was saved in the photos section under attachments a app called app caster and i am fairly certain i opened a link via a Facebook post and a app downloaded by its self which i feel is how all this started. I'm not sure how common things like this are. But i feel if its happening to me it must have happened to someone else. My questions. Can app/attachments/ photos be downloaded by themselves. How common is it? and how do i get rid of this problem for good? I have a girlfriend and don't need weird stuff like this showing up on my phone.

Hi DAWHIPPA. Welcome to Android Forums. You have likely dnlded an app that you gave permissions to that is more than represented. You will want to go back though your recent additions and find the culprit. Removing that app should fix you up but it would be nice if you reported the app to the play store as well. It's a shame that there always seems to be a bad apple in the barrel. Thanks for joining these forums and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi there DAWHIPPA, I responded to your intro thread earlier and decided that this should be moved to the application forum. I will send you a PM regarding this change just so you can find your thread :)

Olbriar has a good suggestion, going back to your recent downloads should help you find the culprit to these unannounced downloads

Also install Malwarebytes (free at Play) and a good antivirus program (I use Avast, but only because that's what I use on my computers, and it seems to work - there are other good free ones in Play).

Also, don't download apps from anywhere but known good sources, like the Play store and the Amazon App Store.

Questionable websites also can be sources of problems. Part of the web page can be a downloader that downloads and installs an app you don't want. Malwarebytes, an antivirus and, if your browser supports it, Web of Trust, are ways to prevent that.
