Help HI, Lg connect issue

MiriamV

Newbie
I have relace 3 Connects in less than 1 month, the phone is on the VV5 update, I have delete all apps, pic, re format my memory card, and leave the memory card out for a day and the phone keeps rebooting (power Cycling) every few hours or even between seconds..yesterday alone it power cycle 3 times in less than 10 minutes, I really dont know what else to try I even bought a new battery and that didnt make any difference.

Have this happen to anyone here? and if it have..have you found a solution.

Thanks for any help giving. oh and Im not a phone geek so I cant do any root or rom thing..I will be scared to do any of those things.

Thanks again.

I have three active LG Connects, all 3 are about 2 years old and around Saturday they decided to restart themselves. Yesterday 2 of the 3 were restarting every couple hours while the thirds maintained 20 hours without a reboot, today that one is restarting every few hours and the other 2 not as often. I tried holding the volume button while pressing the power to factory reset and still having the issue.

That's really weird.
You should check the lg site to see if they pushed an ota patch that didn't register as a firmware change.

Have you noticed the devices running warm or slow? It sounds like your cpu is crashing out either from running too slow and receiving a load (like checking data connection or trying to synch) Or running too fast either overclocking or just running high for too long...

Where are both of you located? Ota tends to be pushed in different areas at different times. If you're in the same area or the same state it would make sense that you both got the same issue close together

I have 2 connects and for the last few weeks, both have been acting up as well. One seems to restart about 6 times a day (3 in 10 minutes sometimes) and other couple times a day... both of them are rooted as a side note. Will scour internet for others...

Edit: I live in dallas

Mine is rebooting as well. Just within the last month (I recently got it reconnected after not having service for 2 months)

It seems to reboot more often when I push it while doing things like tethering. Or just randomly when I am trying to type a message to someone on facebook.

Well, after having the phone replace 4 times in less than one month and having the phone sent to LG for repair I still have this issue on both of my units. IT SUCKS !!!

my data goes on and off also, it can be running on EV and 4g and then nothing then back to EV then 4g..GRRRRRRR!!!

Lg say that they replace the Flash Memory, which it didnt do anything..so now I have to send it again.. SMH...

And Im located in Fort Lauderdale and my connect have the ZVA update. Dont know how to do the OTA update and apparently I have the latest software, but went i sent the phone to LG I had the VV5 and now it comes back with the ZVA ...WTF??? This is driing me crazy..

TOKENPOKE, yes the phone get warm sometimes...its crazy one day I tought it was going to explode of how hot it got.

It sounds like you guys are about to get forked real good.

If you're loosing 4g and getting super hot then I'm willing to bet your phone's are continually looking for a 4g signal.... I remember there being a psa about metro sending out a 4g fix that solved issues with phones overheating and loosing data due to the tmob merger.

If one of you could, try disabling 4g. I don't quite remember the steps though.

I remember it having to do with using some launcher that had an "activities" widget that you could use to access your radio settings.
Try setting it to evdo only and seeing if that helps for now.

I need to sleep, but I'll look more into it later.

Oh, I think it was apex launcher... something starting with a at least.

Work in four hours, need sleep. I'll try to keep this tread at the top of my list.

So i just also check the back of my phone and it says that my model is ms840v and i should be running the vv5 update and Im not, i connect the phone to the lg support tool and it says I have the latest update...smh.

Yeah, updates are pushed ota or updated during repairs.

That's beside the point.

Has anyone tried my suggestion?

Like I said, I think your 4g antenna is struggling to connect to the network, causing it to overheat and crash.

My phone reboots constantly throughout the day too, it has to be a network side issue cause my phone reboot on cue when I reach Palmetto(SR826) and 57 ave daily.

Seeing as how you're having issues on vv5 I'm not sure there's much you can do.

I'd try manually flashing vv5 and seeing if you can update your roaming list via *228. You may have to speak to a rep and have them do it remotely.

well I just send the phone back to lg, the data thing I beleive it goes on and off due to the merge the funny part is that my moms phone dont have that issue, also do you guys think it could be a bad SIM card? A friend point that out to me and I even ask to get a new sim card that at metro they told me thats not the problem..but who knows if they are telling the true..LOL

I did have some bar up, but i honestly dont remember, i send it to LG again, also do you think the SIM card could be the problem? sometimes we get this error like the Sim is not there or is not working

I'm still leaning toward the phone struggling to make a network connection. There are two different connects. I'm pretty sure you guys all have the original one since most people got the second because the original always had some overheating issues.

I really dont know, we use to have the Esteem and that one got some crazy issues to so we got the connect as replacement them this one start acting up too, I would know hot to tell you if I have the old or new, the only thing I know is that this phones are discontinue and they are all refurbish.. :(

I think their lte support goes out next year so all of the old lte phones may soon start having connectivity issues.
Personally, I got rid of my connect about two months after purchase because of the original overheating issues.

well i got the phone back from LG...on there part they say that there is not issue with the phone so they send it back,...the phone reboot one time since I activated again at 5pm today...this sucks big...im mad.. :/ LOL..thanks for the help anyways.

I'm still pretty convinced it's an overheating issue caused by the crap antenna.
It explains why some people on custom Roms are "fixing" the problem by getting a new sd card (heat damages cards, if your dalvik is on ad you'll reboot often on a damaged card) or new battery (heat is really bad for those things).

I got a new sd card a new ICCID card, took of app ..and still getting reboot...is there anything I can do to fix the antenna problem? plus my signal goes on and off constantly ...damn metro guy told me that was normal..I was like WHAT??? so why I have a smartphone that I cant use because I cant connect to data... WTF?..Im so upset that IM ready to get a new phone..now I just dont know which one since I dont want to buy a phone that 3 month later goes discontinue..

The connect got discontinued for a reason. I really would just get a new phone if I were you. I'm not sure if they still sell the premia from Huawei but it's a good phone and was well priced last I checked. The current lg models they have (l9 and f6) have tiny internal memory and all three have big screens and nice displays. I have one of each, permit, f6 and l9. My power button got jammed on the premia so I don't use it but it's a really good phone.
