Root Hi, new here, just did first root, have question.

Hey everybody! I actually just found this website last night and so far I've read and learned a lot. Enough that I finally had the nads to root my Incredible.

Much thanks to Jonamerica for his awesome in depth how to that made it very easy to understand. Im very computer savvy and have always loved electronics but Im new to phone software and such.

I've decided to wait until the OTA update to see if I should go ahead and install the update or keep my rooted INC and wait for a 2.2 rom that has the other goodies with it. I read that if I install ota when it comes out it could disable my root and may make it harder to re-root. So, Ill just wait and see.

That all being said I don't want to install any custom ROMs yet until the update comes out. But I would like to run SETCPU to increase my battery life but I cant seem to get it to Download, even after I purchased it. Do I need a custom Kernel (hydra) and will this also keep me from being able to update like a ROM would? (the description for SETCPU said kernel wasn't necessary for Inc)

it should download fine... you dont need a kernel to download

yea turns out the purchase was not going through on my card..now all is well and I have SETCPU up and running. Thanks for the input! I really only wanted to be able to underclock my cpu while im not on phone to increase battery life...because all incredible owners know how bad life can be with this phone lol..

in case ya'll didnt know someone on htc-incredible forums found a "fix" for the battery life on our phones...it actually works but is somewhat annoying to do...
