Hi!

Hi fellas!

How are you?

My name is Pedro, I live in Argentina.

I have signed up because I love everything that open source is, and I think android is great.

I was wondering though... If I buy an android phone, can I wipe it's OS and do whatever I want? I mean, like change versions and stuff? customize, hack... etc :) Are there limitations imposed by companies?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Pedro

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Technically speaking loading custom ROM's can be considered a violation of your warranty by the phone carrier or manufacturer. Check your local laws to be sure.

This said, if you load a custom ROM on your phone, experience a hardware issue, and restore the original ROM before returning the phone to the carrier, it's possible that the phone carrier might never know what you did...
