Hi

Lurker
Just took the leap from my old dying iphone 3g to a HTC Desire HD (courtesy of a contract upgrade) and just thought I'd introduce myself, since this looks like the place to be for android info.

My first impressions:

The performance and juice on these phones wipes out anything apple has built. Im pretty sure my phone would wipe the floor with my friends iphone 4. I'm not oblivious to the "apple tax" (paying twice the price for half the hardware), but I had no idea that these phones were so much better.

Only downside (and it is a bit of a big one for me) is the android market. I've had a little look and If I'm to be honest I'm not that impressed. Appears to be lots of junk on there and not much quality. I guess the apple policing pays off in this case. I might dig out my old java books and give some android development a spin.

On the contrary a plus side seems to be development. I originally bought an iphone for getting stuff on the app store and making a few pieces of eight. I don't know if any of you have ever used objective C, but its the nastiest language I have ever used. Also Java plays to my strengths (I have actually had university tuition on it) and it seems to me unless I have overlooked something, that I dont have to pay for a "developers license".

Really enjoying this phone and hoping to see some major additions to the market in the future in terms of quality.

Oh and to stray back on topic, Hi :)
