I've recently bought a HTC Desire on Vodafone UK and found this forum after searching for issues with battery 
Found a few useful items on here so thought I'd register and say Hi! Looking forward to update from HTC in next few months - hopefully that'll fixed the battery issue as well as Peep direct message not working!
