I just bought my fist smartphone: A Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGS2)! Right now I'm figuring out how it works. I'm a 63 year old professor of mathematical psychology from The Netherlands. I want to to go use the SGS2 for calender, email, gps, traffic information, music etc. I am replacing an old PDA...

I'm going to guess that you are in Amsterdam, or thereabouts. My wife and I absolutely love it there and get there every chance we can. If you use Google services for most of that, you'll find it's a smooth experience, although other options work as well. If you swing by Samsung Galaxy S2 - Android Forums the users of your phone model will be able to help you out.
