I just recently had my first Android devices, a "Dropad A8X" tablet and a RK2918 based tv set top box. Both are cheap Chinese stuff and just for hobby.
I am a newbie with Android and my day job lies elsewhere. I think I have seen a bit or two during some decades of software development.
I managed to get a huawei 3g dongle working with the tablet and now I would want to do the same for the tv set top box. I already have the rild running in the box, but the telephony manager (or provider or whatever) is not running and the 3g settings are not shown in Settings.apk. I guess I need to replace at least Settings.apk. I have cyanongen and pure froyo source trees and a development environment.
My intent is to configure a "computer" out of an android tv set top box for totally computer illiterate people (my parents), who could do just the following

- Use Internet Bank
