Help hidden image transfer

roadkill

Lurker
I just upgraded to the Note 4 from the Note 3. I had a hidden image folder that I was almost certain was saved on my SD card. When I opened up my gallery on the Note 3 I just had to hit the menu button and show hidden files. Now that I've moved my SD card to my Note 4 I can't seem to find or access those files. I've tried searching the "my files" app as well as using a file explorer app with no luck. Are these lost forever?

Was this a standard feature on the Note 3 i.e. requiring no third-party apps? If so it's probably better asked in the Note 4 sub-forum, where others who made the upgrade may be able to help.

Let me know if you'd like this thread moved.

Hidden image folder huh? Wink wink, nudge nudge, knowda mean knowda mean...

I had a hidden folder on my sd card on my S3 and it's there again on the Note 4.

What's the capacity of the sd, and how large is the folder? You don't have to tell me, just do the math yourself and determine if it's gone, or just inaccessible.

Do you have a card reader? Can you try to view it on a pc?

Haha that's exactly what it is. Special pictures of the wife. The SD card is 64gb. There was only 4 pictures but I didn't assign them to a specific folder. Just hit the hide option in the gallery. Haven't tried to read the card on a computer but I figured that was the same as using the file explorer.

Reading on the computer may yield different results - it did for me. I was helping someone with a hide app and before I knew it, did what he did - hid my whole gallery. PC got my pictures back.

I've never hidden anything using the gallery app. I typically rename the folder they're in with a dot in the front.
When hiding a picture using the gallery, does it rename the file with a dot in front of the name?

Just a thought but if they are still on your SD card, try going to the settings and activate "Private Mode" under Display (?). Then when you go back to the Gallery, they should show up.
