Root Hidden Nfc?

I was digging through lg.res .apk and I found in the books.XML that said

Config-systemui-feature-nfc">false</bool> can't we just change it to true and add in the apk? And other files? Or is this just for show

The kernel contains code for NFC as well, but it doesn't mean it's there. It just means they copy/pasted source from one phone to another and called it good enough.

As best as I can tell, it's an antenna amplifier and it's only on the stock cover, not the extended battery cover.

I have always felt like nfc was there...on GB i always had a reboot issue with my spectrum sitting on my work blackberry. clank them together and sure enough it was reboot 90% of the time. same with metal desks as well but not as much.

You can chalk that up to the magnets used to interface with the car dock and "pouch" thing, what ever that is (mostly likely a holster)

Magnets do make the most sense for the reboot issue. As for the pouch, LG Spectrum joins HD smartphone gang | Expert Reviews , 3rd picture down. I've never seen one for sale thou. It's like the pogo stand for the N7. Advertised but not sold.

They sell the pouch case on Amazon and I've seen it on LG's website as well.

I really doubt it's been over looked. Someone probably saw files that say it has NFC, but never checked the actual specs. If you go by files alone, supposedly this phone also supports FM radio receiving. I have yet to find anything that would suggest that is true either thou. In fact, if this did have hidden NFC, they'd be in big trouble with the FCC. None of the FCC filings have NFCpaperwork. www.phonescoop.com/phones/fcc_query.php?gc=BEJ&pc=VS920

If you look at the Nexus 4 thou, they have a whole section just for NFC.

LG didnt get the appropriate filings from the FCC for NFC or FM Radio. Just because its referenced in numerous spots doesn't mean the hardware is there.
