Help Hidden WiFi

Hi there
I'm a brand new Android user having just acquired an Android 3.0 Asus eee Pad Transformer (seems very good!).
Connecting to WiFi seemed very easy until I tried to connect to my brother's hidden WiFi network. Couldn't be done. Broadcast name = All Ok, hide again = "out of range". Tried the same with my router - same problem. When I look on the web this seems to have been an issue FOREVER. I find lots of comments that it is now fixed but it clearly isn't. What is going on? Surely this is a major issue - I know hiding your ssid doesn't give as much security as you might hope but lots of people use it. Am I missing something? Are Android problems always so slow to fix?

I connect hidden WiFi network all the time.
Once I had an issue, and only later realized that the problem was the restricted MAC list.

Same here, my home wifi is hidden and I've never had any issues connecting from my Nexus One 2.3.3. Not yet tried with a Honeycomb device, but I hope to try with a new Transformer tomorrow!

Try changing wireless channels in the modem. It maybe just an interference issue on the tablet. Did you try connecting without the router hiding the SSID?

Its quite specific. I can be using the network happily with never a problem, but if I hide it, it will immediately show as out of range. If I unhide it, back it comes, immediately.
I have downloaded hiddenSSID Enabler, and that does the trick, but its inconvenient and shouldn't be necessary.

Definitely software related then. Honestly there's not much advantage to hiding ssids now, plenty of software available easily to scan for hidden networks. That's why I just layer my security in my router.
