Help Hide Folder & Files From File Manager...

So I've got a folder with files contained within that has contents I'd like to hide from prying eyes. So far as the pics contained within I've found a gallery app that has a hide feature, but not a file manager with the same feature.

The file manager that I was using was RD File Manager which has a built ability to hide folders and files. However it can be cumbersome to use, isn't for novice users, I've more than once gotten myself into trouble deleting some of the art work for the music albums read by my player. But I've become disloutioned by it throwing ads at me.

I've found a few file managers that have potential but none seem to have a built in hide ability. So is there a file extension that I can use so as to hide a folder or file from the file manager? I know .nomedia works but it also hides it from the gallery app I'm running. Should I use a separate hide app from the Play Store???

If you put a dot at the start of the file name that makes it a hidden file in Linux. However, most file managersmanagers have the option to show hidden files, so it only works if someone doesn't go into the settings and turns it on.

Hi

If you are using a Samsung device with Lollipop, you may be able to use "private mode" in settings to hide content (I think its a Samsung thing rather than Android..)

Thanks everyone for responding to my query. Is there perhaps a way to keep the folder in question, it's got pics in it - nothing bad - visible to my gallery app where I've got it hidden behind a PIN but to make it hidden from a file explorer? I tried changing the folder in question by putting a period in the front which did hide it from the explorer, but it also hid it from my gallery app. Seems I'm caught in a one or the other situation unless I can find an explorer with a hide function. ES File Explorer has one but has become very laden with malware and ads as of late...

Thanks I appreciate it and will have to look at those. I've also renamed the folder something computer gibberish related and buried it deep in my Android's file system. You'd have to go looking for it and have to know what it's called in order to find it. But I still do appreciate the response...
