Hide SMS Country Origin

Hi,

I am hoping to surprise a friend when he arrives in the Far East, by already being there when he arrives. To re-enforce the surprise, I want to send an SMS (not e-mail), which does not reveal the country that I am in, just prior to his arrival. Does anyone know how/if this can be done?

Use your regular SIM rather than a local one - won't that just appear as an SMS from you in his inbox?

That seems too easy - will it not carry the country code from where it was sent from?

My online account with Vodafone in the UK has an option for me to turn off 'number forwarding'. In essence, my number will then come up as 'unknown'. Maybe you have this? But not sure what would happen in your case (phone abroad, thus sms going home then re-sent abroad ....).

Thanks DVHTTN, but it is not an option for me. Originally I thought that there may be an app that can do it but I think I will look on a specialist phone forum as I am sure you can use "#*" like commands.
