'Hide' Unwanted Apps in App Drawer

Hi all,
Probably a well known thing but I didn't know it so thought it may help someone else out there!
It's a way to help organise your app drawers without having to use a 3rd party launcher(I like the touchwiz widgets like s-planner too much :D).
- When in the app drawer, press your 'menu' button>select 'edit'.
- Now long press the app you want to hide and drag it into the folder in the bottom right of the screen. This will create a new folder at the top of your app drawer.
- Click this new folder, rename it to something like 'Unused' and ok it.
- Now press the plus button and select all the apps you don't want to see in the main app drawer (I shifted all my vodafone branded bloatware and samsung apps I won't use).
- Press 'done' in the top right, then press 'save in the top right of the screen.

Now the apps that clutter up your app drawer are out of sight(sort of)

This works for tidying up your app drawer so you could have folders like Google, Multimedia, Games, etc

Good tip but its not needed anymore as touchwiz on the sgs3 supports hiding apps! (Love this feature :D)

Go into the app drawer, press menu and then select "hide applications" then select the applications you want to hide and hit "done " in the top right corner.

Once you've hidden apps you can show them again by going into the app drawer, pressing menu and going to "show hidden applications" then, again, select the apps you want to show and hit done.

Folders are still useful for organising apps but no longer need to be used for unused ones! I've hidden all the hubs and s suggest. :)

Hey bigholly,
Just press the 'Apps' button on the bottom right of your home screen.
Once in here, just press the 'menu' button (left of the 'home' buttton on the phone) then follow either mattye or my instructions above, depending on what you want to do.

It should also be pointed out that most bloatware apps can actually be disabled. Just find them in applications as though you are trying to uninstall them. The uninstall button is replaced with disable. This removes the app from the app drawer, prevents anything from starting it, and moves it to the bottom of the applications window.

its not quite as nice as uninstall would be, and still not quite all can be disabled, but better than nothing.

Settings > Application manager > All. Select app & you can disable or again enable if you so desire.

It says disabling system apps may cause malfunction or something like that. Will it happen?

If something else uses that app or service, disabling it will indeed cause problems. If nothing else uses it though, you are safe.

For example, if you do not use any of the verizon bloatware, you can safely disable all of it. Nothing outside of Verizon uses Verizon services.

note: disabling stuff will not brick your phone. Everything critical can not be disabled. So, if you disable something and it breaks something else... you can easily go in and reenable it.

But is there a way to automatically hide apps that I have placed on one of my home screens? I had to have to do this manually, and then if I take it off one of the home screens, I have to manually unhide it.

Settings > Application manager > All. Select app & you can disable or again enable if you so desire.
The enable button after you have disabled an app is moved to the bottom. Don't be discouraged by it not showing up alphabetically, just skip to the bottom and VOILA!

Just hid app and looks like no way to unhide it. When I find the app in application manager, no option to unhide. Looks like I will have to uninstall then reinstall. Any thoughts?
