Help Hiding text messages that are not on contact list

Hi there, this is my first time posting. Hope I have done it right. I am trying to find out if I can hide text messages from people who are not on my contact list or who have a private number. I know there are applications but so far I have found they need to be on your contact list. Hopefully someone can help. Many thanks.

I too would like to have spam/junk sms somehow binned automatically. Would be keen to hear from anyone who knows a method to do this.

I want to keep these messages as they are from a friend but they have a private number. So not so much spam .... for me
