High percentage screen usage

My S3 battery has started to die a bit rapid. I went to Battery in the settings and it came up with 82% screen usage. This despite Power saving turned on. ???

Also, the email icon is showing -1. How can you get a minus 1 email.
Phone was flashed last week when at repairers. I had this fault before it went away too.

Batteries age no matter how you treat them, over time they just hold less charge. The screen is also a huge power consumer, what are your brightness setting at?

As for the email are you sure its not just a dash? post a screenshot

Seems to do the same whether original battery or my 3800 mah battery - six months old. Power saving turned on, screen on Automatic brightness, halfway on scale. Actually now reading 38%. It is random- sometimes high, sometimes low.
Re; minus 1 email- that is also random- not there now, but has been all day today.
I will ignore it, perhaps it may go away.
I posted because I thought it was strange.

Brightness halfway up is HIGH. Turn off automatic and set it lower as much as you can. I've actually grown accustomed to having mine at the lowest possible setting while indoors. Even then, my screen still takes up a vast majority of my battery life. Currently, my battery is at 84% charged, and I show the #1 draw is 24% for Screen, and my phone has been on minimum brightness the entire time. All I've done in the ontime has been read a few texts, have a 3 minute phone call, and play a round of Hill Climb Racing (I'm addicted - sue me).


The -1 Email thing has been discussed before. A solution was given, and it works, but the -1 will come back. Go to Settings. then Application Manager, then All, then click on Email, then click on Clear cache. That will make the -1 go away - until you get another email and open it, then it'll come right back. Nobody has ever given a more permanent solution here, and I've checked this forum daily for 2 years since I first got my S3.

Re; the -1 email showing on screen.
It's been 2 days since I wiped the email account that was showing a minus 1.
I re- entered the info into phone and so far so good. It was an aol account, but funny that it has only just started now that contract is about finished. Strange !!
