HI....this is my first post in this forum...as i am a new user of android....can anyone tell me...how can i set a song as a ring tone from my song collection stored in my phone?????

Not sure what phone you're using. Some allow you to do it stock, but one of the easiest ways is to download the app Ringdroid:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ringdroid&hl=en
It's free and allows you to set a song as a ringtone in addition to picking what part of the song you want to use. Quite easy to use as well.
