Help Hinsense Sero 7 Pro..connecting a keyboard

My tablet won't accept my keyboard. I have the OTG cable, specs for the Sero 7 Pro state that it can connect to a keyboard via an OTG cable. I bought a tablet cover with keyboard and OTG cable, plugged it in and it still don't work.

I have gone to so many forums telling me to "Root" my tablet and do all kinds of other crazy stuff to it. I thought it would be as easy as plug and play, guess I was wrong.

I can't get thru to Hisense customer service via phone and I sent a question thru their support website...and still no answer. I need help or I guess I will have to send back the keyboard/case/otg cable bundle to Amazon.com

Three things: some of these wouldn't even work with the OTG cable without an app like Nexus Media Importer- a paid app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer&hl=en). I got this and it worked for me for a while, then my micro USB port wouldn't even read the USB. This is a known problem with some of these tablets. If you bought it new and warranty is in effect, you can do that (I have an extended warranty and may try that soon but I use a bluetooth kb and can get my files transferred other ways-running smooth so don't want to upset the applecart).

The second is what I mentioned about a faulty micro USB port. Will your OTG cable allow you to plug in a flash drive? If so, try that to eliminate this being an issue.

Finally, if your port is ok, the more recent rooting methods of developer 'Dopa' (search XDA forums) allow OTG cable use without a 3rd part app if your port is ok and are fairly easy to flash.
