Help Hitting mute button while on call

Ever since I've updated to Froyo I've had lots of problems. Probably the most annoying is that the screen turns on randomly while I'm on a call and my cheek hits the mute button. This happens multiple times while on a call and I don't realize it. Sometimes I even hang up on the person by accident. I can have my face completely pressed up against the phone and the screen still comes on like I've moved the phone away from my face. This NEVER happened when I was running Eclair.
