Hitting STORES in Mid-August!

I will probably get the phone a week or so after release just to see what real world usage is like from people who have it. Excited to see how it works once released, and I hope that is very soon!

I read some info, on the comments section about the T-Mobile pre-orders starting this week, and apparently pre-orders will start in 2 days (7/28) and the device will be ready for pickup on the same day of the 8/2 announcement!

Woohoo!...Just a few more days until I rid myself of the PRIV. Man, was that a huge mistake deciding to give it a shot. Although, I have to admit, if I were to have waited and saw the $299 (recently) for a new/unlocked one, I might have bought it outright. Thankfully, I got the Priv w/ Jump On Demand.

I had a thought about all the different release date rumors. Samsung is the official sponsor of the Olympics, which are 8/3-8/21. The announcement date is strategically 1 day prior to that event beginning. My thought is, maybe the actual release date will be the 3rd, to accompany the opening of the Olympics. I imagine Samsung plans on giving all the Olympians a free Note 7 to use at the games.

And if this tweet is actually true https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/759114197594701825 , wouldn't it benefit Samsung to make the phone available for purchase during the games, so that people who are attending can actually use the device during their time attending the events? Just seems like too good of an opportunity for Samsung, to wait until half way through the Olympic games until they make the phone available for purchase. And 1 day pre-order would limit the amount of free microSD's and vr headsets they'd give away for promotional purposes.

However, I just read on different sites that evan tweeted 7.0 nougat, final version will be released in August with the August 5th security update and that somebody already received OTA a R version instead of beta.

If all that is true, then the Note 7 may very well launch with Nougat. Perhaps they originally intended to release earlier but Nougat wasn't quite ready?
Just speculating. :) Now THAT would be quite the surprise. :)

Hey, look what I just got in the mail! :D

Note7PortfolioCase.jpg

You think I'm jumping the gun a little?

:p

EDIT: I opened it up and compared it to a similar portfolio case that my Moto X Pure is currently in. Height-wise, it's almost exactly the same size: but width-wise, it's about 1/4" (about 6mm) THINNER than the Moto X Pure. That concerns me because that's a pretty good chunk of screen real estate I'm giving up. Sure, the edge feature doesn't count in that... but you can't really use the S-pen on the edge.

I just found out actual opening ceremonies for the Olympics is October 5. I hope Samsung does the smart thing and releases the phone by then.

I don't think you are jumping the gun at all. I call it being prepared. I have a tempered glass and 2 of my potential daily driver cases ready to go. I say it's being prepared, not premature [emoji6]

Not sure how true this is... but according to this article, Samsung will offer a promotion: either a free Gear VR or a 256GB microSD card with the Note 7! :D

Yup. I saw that one too. Hoping it does come true. But I also saw this:

http://9to5google.com/2016/08/01/ex...-free-gear-fit-2-w-purchase-of-galaxy-note-7/

I'd rather get a 256 microSD, which Samsung has already released, over the Fit 2, but won't complain with whichever freebie is offered via T-Mobile. I can always sell the Fit 2 and use the cash to buy a card or possibly pay off one of my devices.

"a choice of either free black color Gear VR or 258 GB MicroSD for every Note 7 purchase during promotion."
Anyone else notice this boo boo in the last article the Chief referenced?

Take it with a grain of salt, or less, but I was just at my local Verizon store and the sales rep there told me the notewill go on sale Friday.
I asked him to clarify, presale or actually on sale, and he said on sale, phone in hand.

Told me they already have the screen protectors there at the store so usually when that happens, they get the phone at the end of the week.

A little suspicious as I always thought phone releases happen on Thursdays. So, again, grain of salt.

Exciting nonetheless!

We'll see, there were some articles saying that T-Mobile was gonna have a pre-order going last week, but none of my local T-Mobile's heard anything about that. I'm still hoping that my theory, about the Olympics coinciding with the actual availability of the device, comes true, so release on 8/5 does just that. I think it'd be a smart move for Samsung to do, as the main sponsor.

Can you imagine all the plastered ads about the Note 7 going on during the Olympics, but when people go to actually buy the device, they're told..."oh, sorry, it won't be available for a couple weeks." That's be a Fail on Samsung's part. Just too much advertising not to take advantage of, during the Olympics (especially as the main sponsor of the event).

What's the reason to pre-order? Are they giving away a Gear VR? I dunno, I will still likely get the phone, but am disappointed in what is basically just a little bit bigger S7 6 months later.
