Holiday in NYC-Hero

I am going to New York in Sept,will I only be able to use my hero on the 2g network ? Will it still update weather etc on 2g and do Google maps work on the 2g network ? Thanks in anticipation

It works, on GPRS, slower, but works.

It still costs data by the way. If you can buy pay as you do SIM cards in America with cheap data rates that would be an option to avoid excessive cost.
