Root HoloS 3.2.6 [ROM][WIP]8-7-12

This looks like an awesome rom! Not to ask a silly question, but wanted to confirm it is for a LG Vortex before I download...Thanks:)
 
Dude this rom looks sick when it is more stable on mms I am so downloading. I will keep an eye on this and donate when I can even if I'm not using this I love where is going and I really hope when the ics comes out you can make it look this awesome.so far this looks like the rom with most potential. MAD PROPS

i have shineyside working on a new mms for us. a good alternate for mms right now is to use gosms. it will send the mms for ya

I am ok with waiting hopefully you guys can get it fixed.I'm rather a newb to this I was wondering what you guys use for the vram sd card memory or internal. Or a link about it
 
Been watching this thread since it's inception, after having a few strange issues with BP and quite a few with BO I figured I would give this ago. Thank you for your development in our very small community. :)

So far this seems like a fun ROM, definitely different and I give you props for that.

I will say that I wish screen transition was smoother (loopy smoothness) and not choppy, but that's not really a huge concern. I look forward to running this through a good solid week of testing and seeing how well this phone plays with the setup of apps I use on a daily basis.

Good work man, look forward to seeing what you have in store.

hmmm runs smooth for me. Could be your cpu configuration compared to mine. Are you underclocked or using a gov like power save or conservative? I use interactive gov and as long as I have my cpu set over 1200 it runs pretty much lag free. 1500 and above has no lag at all with interactive gov.

Nope running stock CPU settings, actually. 384/1512 ondemand/bfq

I am referring to the transition between screens. It's not smooth, like that of say BO. I don't have lag between execution of one program to another, really. Just moving to another screen... I think the addition of that feature is called loopy smoothness? I could be wrong...

However, I am going to be removing this rom until there is a few things fixed. Sadly, I really like what the dev did here, this roms stands apart from the others and it's nice to see a new touch on things. I already knew that there were a few known issues with this ROM but decided to give it a go based on reviews of others.

Besides not being able to see the numbers on the dialer the power control bar seems to be plagued with quite a few issues right now (for me). I realize this is a small bug but it's something I use quite a bit. When I go to turn the screen to auto or to dim it takes a long time to register with the phone. I also can turn bluetooth on on the control bar, but not off. I have to go through the settings and into the menus that route, to turn it off. Same applies with Sync and Data. Can turn on, but not off.

These are just a bit too annoying for me to stick with this ROM for the time being. I use my phone for business purposes mainly and while I like the look for something new and different I need it to be functional as my phone is more of a tool than it is a toy.

Also, I had an issue with my contacts not showing up at first. For some reason it took a few reboots and they finally appeared? That seemed really odd...

That being said, I am am not going to give up on this rom. This was a test run, one that I hoped would have been able to last a bit longer but unfortunately these area few issues I cannot work with for the time being.

I will check back with this ROM as it progresses forward with resolving some of it's issues.

That could be due to your gov and clocking configuration with this kernel. 'Ondemand' basically maxes the cpu to your max frequency and with the plague kernel, that could be problematic... others reported solid performance with that type of configuration on Blitz, but not on Plague.

Personally with plague, I've found better performance with lagfree and slight underclocking; with HoloS and that configuration, I get smooth transitions.
 
Just instelled and aside from completely losing all my contacts, (Seems to be happening everytime I switch roms since i came to verizon) Things seem pretty dope.. Smooth, quick, and very upgraded from the modded BO I was using.. Font is cool but I had to turn off animations..

I'd recommend you check your Google Contacts admin page and see what's listed there: https://www.google.com/contacts/u/0/#contacts

Android is supposed to store all your contacts there by default. The only time that's not the case is if you've used BackupAssistant. If that's the case, you need to export your contacts from BA, then import them into your Google Contacts. Then, whenever you register an Android phone with your Google account, all the contacts will show up automatically.

If you see contacts on that link above and you're *not* using backup assistant, let us know. There are other possibilities.

if you are using a lot of widgets with holo that can cause lag between screen transitions. At least it does for me. It could be certain kinds of widgets but I don't know. I don't really use a lot of widgets or screens though because I just don't have a need for them.

As far as the dialer goes I've used ex dialer with the black ics theme for a while so that doesnt effect me.

I'm not sure what you mean by power control bar so I must not use that. If you are referring to the toggles in the notification the only one of those I use is airplane mode and it works good.

Sucks you having so many issues though. Updates shall come though.

But really, why not just use a third party app to get around the issues with the stock stuff.

For a dialer I highly recommend ex dialer with the black ics theme. It's really nice and looks a lot better than any dialer I've seen anywhere...period

sms, IMO you can't beat go. It's the most configurable and changable sms app I've found.

For toggles I use HD widgets. They look really nice and always work. I use them a lot and they have never failed.

I'll put up some screenshots of apps to show how cool my phone looks in show me your homescreen. :D
 
Good point. Jorte and Business Calendar seem to make my phone transitions lag, regardless of the phone. Maybe because they're intricate widgets that rely on 2 apps to function. Dunno.

I think he is talking about the stock power control widget...very useful widget. But I also noticed it did not function correctly on this rom.

Thats funny you say that about the calender widget mrB. I was using APW pro calender widget for a while and it always seemed to give me a slight bit of lag in my transitions. Must be something with calender widgets then.

Well, the lag was noticeably before any widgets were on any screens. This was noticeable right after 1st boot and flash. Also, I had an issue with HD widgets and beautiful widgets (i have both) working on this rom. Further, right after typing my prior response I managed to get a phone call from a client and the dialer disappeared after taking the call and I was unable to hang up. Figuring this was a fluke I yanked the battery restarted the phone and made 4 other phone calls I needed make. On the third call the dialer disappeared again and I had to resort to yanking the battery and rebooting the phone.

Overall, these bugs are seeming to get worse and this is without any third party apps installed. Like I said, I will wait for more development to come before I come back to this rom. :)

We all know strange issues can happen on a bad flash, I am going to attempt another flash here shortly just to make certain there was not anything I did...
 
man you are having crazy issues. Sounds like a bad flash or download maybe. I don't get any issues at all other than the stated bugs like mms not working and the dialer not showing the numbers. I've been running this rom since brian released it and it runs great for me. Perhaps your phone is just a noob :p




PS. I use HD widgets for toggles and beautiful widgets for 4 day weather widget and both work perfect.

I am not holding my breath that this will work but it's definatley out of the norm... The Disappearing dialer was enough for me to say "okay, time to give it atleast another flash..." I can't say I have ever really had bad flashes on android devices other than this phone. We'll see what happens in about twenty minutes!

and this rom does have the loopy smoothness tweaks done to it already. sorry your having such bad luck with it.
