Root HoloS 3.2.6 [ROM][WIP]8-7-12

Long-time lurker, first time poster here. I would have started a new thread for this but I can't since I have no posts... First of all, thanks to Brian for the ROM, it's awesome; I've been running it for 2 weeks now and it's amazing.

The reason for my post is that there's an app that I really want to use, but I'm getting blocked out of it. It's called Medscape, and it's indispensable for my rotations in medical school. I get an error message every time I try to load it up saying that I need to disable my ad-blocker, but I've never once installed an ad-blocker on my phone. After further research, I've found that the app often doesn't run on rooted phones. The app worked for me for a while until the app updated about 2 months ago. I was wondering if there was any way around this, other than unrooting? I refuse to go back to stock, especially with the amazing dev team we have.

For completeness' sake, I'm running HoloS 3.2.3 with 2. 6. 35. 11-Plague+ kernel, according to my phone's software info. I downloaded and installed the HoloS 3.2.5 zip.
 
I believe there's a hosts file built into the rom, which does the same as if you were to use an app like ad aware or ad free. A simple solution is to install adfree and click 'revert'... It will delete that hosts file and you won't get that error anymore. If you want to reinstall the blocking of ads, use adfree to download and install the host file again. I keep the app installed for those instances where I need to allow ads.

There is another update out that is 3.2.6. i havent updated the build info in the phones software info yet but i will on my next release. and i would also do like MrB said install adfree and then revert and it will take care of the adblocker

@MrB: Thanks! That worked like a charm, Medscape is running flawlessly again. You're a lifesaver.

@Brian: Yeah I purposely installed the 3.2.5 version because of the issues you stated with MMS. The rest of my family uses iPhones and when they send out group texts they come in as MMS, and I wanted to keep getting those. I'm patiently waiting for your next update :) Thanks for your work.
 
So i hot everything installed. It works great but none of my notification sounds are working. When j get to xt messages my ringtines arnt working. When j get calls. My ringer works fine has anyone else had thjs problem and know how to fix it. Thanks in advance for your help :-P
 
So I love this ROM. I finally installed it because BP was giving me mad issues.do far only issue I noticed was a fast battery drain (even tried settings mentioned in older posts) and the previously mentioned wifi toggle status lit. One interesting fact is all aspects of my texting and picture messaging seen completely fine. just thought I would mention it. Love the ROM keep up the good work dude.
Edit: battery drain is about 1% per three minutes with gov at 1.2ghz and set to interactive bfq but only with screen on and at lowest brightness.with screen off playing Pandora getting better battery life then I ever had
 
Had to completely restore my phone for some reason my imei said unknown and I was getting no service. I restored my phone using a non root v6 nandroid back up then installed the stock recovery.when phone rebooted was as colloid as out of the box.
 
Sadly I regret to inform I have given up on the spectrum.I just ordered an s3 but if there are still developers for the spectrum I would like to help the community by donating my spectrum its in really good condition and only a few months old.
 
any idea how long til mms works? i really like this rom except for that...

and thanfully it was availible, cause i softbricked my phone and it saved it...

now im trying to go back to stock, but save the /userdata partition...

i would keep it if mms worked.. :((

I have someone else working on the mms re themeing it. i email him other day just waiting to hear back from him. i will keep everyone posted when i hear something.
 
well i just restored stock, lol i almost flipped out when it said, activating sim card.... lol.. it worked, and now im restoring my user data partition only, waiting on reboot...

does ext4 work on this rom? i think i will flash back if ext4 and mms work..

im running popcorn v2.0 kernel... from Index of /spectrum/kernels/popcorn - its ext4 compatible.... will it work with this rom as well?
