i thought i needed the keyboard layout... nope...

seems someone else had this problem now?! wierd...

hope it isnt a problem like the random reboots on v6...

Lock screen doesnt work either???

Im @ work, wont be home for a few days, dont want to chance screwing it up worse

Anyone help with keylayout please... i tried keytest.apk doest recognize home either...

You could do a reset through the stock recovery. Only downside is you lose anything on your phone right now.

I understand that, i dont have any tools now to do that (ie: computer terminal)

I think i can just flash the stock v7 .cab later...

But sdmaid definitely screwed something up... good program... til now...

Can any please pull /system/keysets/*.*

I need some basic functionality for 2 days here....

I dont think reset will completely work either if files are missing.. or changed.. i thought that just formats /data partition ?

i was gonna pull that for you.. but i dont have any folders under /system named keysets... i poked all around and found nothing :/

but i think he meant use the button combo to do a full wipe with the stock recovery on the phone

Cant wipe, no computer right now...
Will wipe when i get home in 2 days... kinda need home button thou... some kind of functinality...

Think its /system/usr/keysets

Let me chk...

Its the stock ota version... but i did a .cab install, cause i had cm9, but sd-ext.img error, as some of us know...

Home key not working for me either, and I have no idea what sdmaid is. I just think I froze one too many LG apps...

Just noticed the lock seen I'd not showing up either. I did freeze the pouch lock screen app.. Going to unfreeze that and reboot...

No change, no lock screen on startup either. But I did lose 5% battery...

Update
Way to annoying, I had to factory reset. So far most things are working again; however still have settings that survived the factory restore, while others were reset.

Already since the factory reset I've had some settings revert themselves (set after the reset) after the first reboot.

yea factory reset worked for me... too.. i have no idea why it quit working but it sure did piss me off... it was kinda funny at first, then after i pulled the battery, then i ran a bunch of tests... yep broke.... minus the fact i was up a creek at work and no paddle... (truck driver, i use my phone for buisness... i was screwed...!!!)

not sure why it happened either... hope it dont happen again... i dunno, i know after i installed sdmaid, and ran a system cache clean - it was screwed up.... i also did a database optimization... maybe?

I didn't do any of that! I did remap the function of "home" while already on the home screen, to open the dialer instead of going to the default home screen or going to home screen preview. But that never caused any issue on any GB based Rom or stock, and was working fine before that first ICS reboot. I'll freeze stuff two or three at a time this go around, and reboot after each small group to see if I can find what did it.

-------------update

after my 4th factory reset, I have determined that freezing apps is not causing this home button failure, as the last two times is happened I did not freeze anything. The only thing in common have been the apps I have installed, and rebooting the device. Last night before I went to sleep I wiped everything three times and pushed the V7 .cab back onto my phone to try again today, now I have just done my 5th factory restore (after it messing up again post cab push) and have not done anything to the phone except setup a google account during the setup program and add google voice, because I use GV exclusively for calls and texting and voice mail.

I am still constantly having my settings "reset to default" after rebooting the device, these settings include brightness settings, debug mode, default USB mode, location services settings, and the unknown sources check box.

even more strange, after doing all wipes 3 times and re-flashing the .cab file, my brightness settings were still there (0% auto off) AND my wall paper was still there! (picture of my daughter). These I can only explain by the google backup that restored these settings during the setup wizard, and before I could see the home screen the first time after initial bootup. I have never had my wallpaper restored when flashing ANY Rom on this phone over the last 7 months and I have been using Google backup for over 2 years, or at least as long as it has been around, as I know I used it on my previous phone. Another setting that I do not think would be affected by the google backup, my default connection preference for USB is set to Internet Connection via Modem, not what I picked (via Ethernet), and not the default of mass storage. Even after wiping everything and pushing the v7-15 .cab file again.

I am currently getting the "T-CDMA64" on my lock screen, which previously said "Verizon Wireless" on previous factory restores.

Since I am only installing Google Voice this time, if I continue to have issues, I will be contacting Verizon to provide a replacement handset under Manufacturer Warranty.

One more time... I cannot wait for our fantastic Devs to release AOKP fully working.

hey guys,

I just noticed this thread-

DON'T WIPE YOUR PHONE

What's causing this is a bug in an app called "no lock", I ran into similar problems.

You can tell, if you kill No Lock in a task manager, the home key will start working again!

That's why he doesn't have a lock screen either...

So far I have not lost my home button or lock screen since my last factory restore. The only thing I have not done is install a different launcher. I am not sure of it is the launcher installation itself, or editing the "activities".

I change from default to the following (normally)
Swipe up to open applications
Swipe down to open notifications
(Those two swipe motions are anywhere on the display)
Double tap any home screen to toggle full screen (no notification bar)
Press home from the main home screen to open the dialer (instead of the home screen preview that some launchers have)

Not doing this is the only thing I've tried that hasn't messed up my home button and unlock screen.

I will look into "no lock" and see if that helps

Most of you know how much I love beating a dead horse; however...

I have done everything to this phone without losing my home key usage, or lock screen, that I did before EXCEPT install an alternate launcher and change the default usage of the home key.

I should have time this week to play around and see if I can find a launcher that can modify that setting without messing things up.

Again, installing the launcher, all seems fine.

Reassigning the key, all good.

Rebooting after changing the function of the home key, causes the phone to lose its lock screen and home key entirely.
