Lurker
SOLVED -- I very frequently open certain files (like my grocery list) and wanted to add a one-tap shortcut to my home screen. My web searches showed that many others also wanted to do that but couldn't find a way. Here is how to do it, and it's really simple.
First install ASTRO File Manager / Browser from Google Play. Then tap on the installed apps button (the circle with squares in it above the home key at the bottom of the screen). Then tap the Widgets tab at the top of that screen and search for the ASTRO icon (a folder with an orange A). Long hold on that icon and drag it to the home screen.
When you lift your finder, the standard ASTRO browser will appear. Navigate to the file you want a shortcut to and tap on it. A window asking you to name the shortcut appears. Enter a name and tap OK. YOU'RE DONE!
You can, of course, long hold the new shortcut and move it like any other shortcut, including into another folder.
