Help Homepage 'recent activity' -getting rid of it!

my xperia neo has several homepages, but the default centre one always shows small boxes with my most recent activity i.e a missed called, a messaeg received, etc. I want to just be able to see my wallpaper.

any ideas?

also when i set a wallpaper it puts it across three or four homepage slides, is there any way i can make it per homepage specific?
