Help Honda Handsfreelink

Just got a 2014 Civic for my wife and the sms feature in the handsfrelink works on my GS3 (Alliance Rom 23 - Android 4.3) and not my wife's G2 (Android 4.4).

I read that 4.4 phones, after having updating lose the SMS compatibility with various car systems like Ford and Honda. Anyone have a fix or workaround?

Bluetooth isn't a monolithic protocol - it consists of various profiles. Some cars and some phones just aren't compatible yet, because one or the other is missing a profile, or because they're using incompatible versions of the same profile. That's usually the case with new technology. (When MMS first came out, you could only send MMS files to people using your carrier - there was no inter-carrier MMS.) It'll take a few more years befor everyone uses the same profiles, so that a Bluetooth phone will communicate with a Bluetooth-enabled car with no problems.

I re-paired it twice and it started working. Just have to wait on the new hondalink to be android compatible now. I thought more people have androids these days. Come-on Honda.
