I flashed a radio in wanting to flash to NuSence ICS ROM. When I rebooted after update of the new radio, I had crappy to little service and data was very in and out. Hoping that once i flash NuSense it'll be fine but should it be something I want to revert back, will my BU suffice for that and cover the Radio as well?

Root Hoping not bricked after Radio...

if your phone booted,you are not bricked. 
its difficult to impossible to predict what radios will give good strenght and stability with what carriers in what regions. generally i recomend to use the radio from the newest ruu for your particular device/region. if youre using an inspire here in the states on at&t,there arent alot of options.
the exception to the above,if a particular rom is based around the use of a certain radio,then you will likely see benefits from using that radio.
just make sure you are checking md5s of any radios you flash,make sure your phone is well charged prior.
flashing a corrupt radio can and will leave you with an unrecoverable bricked device.
