Help horizontal section not working on my nexus 4

rohitgoel

Lurker
My nexus 4 is swarmed with issues lately earlier this week i got my lock button replaced at lg customer care after couple of days of replacement my volume key stopped responding then after it horizontal section of screen is not responding to touches all these problems are taking toll on me , and customer services at lg keep on procrastinating about repair services plus i am afraid of getting it repaired again who knows what might get messed up this time , moreover my warranty is about to expire paying for actual replacement or services is very costly i think , i am not sure what i should do, should i dump this phone and go with some other phone obviously not of lg this time not at all satisfied with them ?
They agreed to change my screen but they are not ready to take any responsibility if anything occurs after it my warranty period will end in 1 week what after it ? change in lock key messed my phone up am pretty sure if they change screen my phone will be dead within a week
kindly suggest me what should i do ? go with their services again ?
i was thinking may be i should sell it and hop to htc ?
thank you very much

Hi there rohitgoel, and welcome to Android Forums - though I do wish it could be under better circumstances!

I've moved your post out of the All Things Root subforum since it sounds like a device hardware problem instead of something related to root. It should also get a few more eyes on it here.

Can you tell us what led to LG replacing the power button? Was the phone dropped, exposed to water, etc, or did the button just suddenly (or gradually) cease to function?

If the phone is still under warranty, I would definitely try to get LG to fix the current problem with the touchscreen before making any other plans. Who knows - they might just actually fix it, and you'll be able to happily use your phone for a bit longer.

For suggestions and discussion on what to get next (if it does come to that), be sure to stop by our Device/Carrier Comparisons subforum. I think you'll find a lot of useful information (and opinions) there.

Best of luck to you!

it appeared all of sudden , there is hardly any scratch on my phone lol i saved for an year to buy this phone i was keeping it safe until someone jinxed it , yes it is in warranty but they dont seem to be willing to help me much they keep on procrastinating repairing part and as a job person i dont have that much time to keep on changing my schedule according to them thats why am pissed

I can empathise with your situation, it's very disappointing to experience these problems with warranty on a device you worked hard to own and have taken good care of.

The only point I'd make is that you have very few choices: you could do nothing and end up with a faulty phone, you can get it repaired (again!) while the warranty still allows it and hope for the best, or you can pay to have it fixed when the warranty expires.

I'm a "glass half full" sort of person so I'd get it repaired (again) and hope it works out this time. If it does then all well and good, if not you're no worse off than you are now.

+1 for getting the phone repaired again: at least that way there's a chance you could end up with a working phone

It's a shame you're dealing direct with LG.

I just had a screen issue with my N4 and contacted Google direct (since I'd bought from the Play Store). Turns out that the way that works is you 'buy' a refurbished phone from the Play Store using a special link Google send you. The refurb arrives along with an envelope to return your old phone. If the work is covered under warranty, the price of the refurb is then refunded.

The upside is you get an entirely different phone and you don't have to go without a phone at all. The downside is you may have just paid $300 for a 2 year old phone

It's been nearly 2 weeks since I returned my phone and I still haven't heard anything from Google, despite e-mailing them. Guess I'll find out if I've paid that $300 when my credit card bill arrives ..

Mine was replaced by Google UK who were a bit more civilised than Google in the US...

After a phone call I was sent a new (not refurb) N4 next day and wasn't charged anything for it. I was told that Google reserved the right to charge me if I failed to return the old one within 30 days or if the fault proved to be user damage.

I got a receipt acknowledgement within a few days of the return and that was that, no charge was ever made :-)

However this is not what the OP wants to hear; let's hope LG sorts it out for him this time.

i am gonna send it again for repair for sure , but i will mess their heads as well they should know how to treat a customer . i am all riled up

Google UK clearly like you a whole lot better than the like me ;)

Meanwhile, it's been nearly 3 weeks, I've e-mailed Google UK twice for an update and still .. nada :(

Well, quite ;)

Hmm. You mentioned $300 so I assumed you were dealing with Google non-UK :-)

Maybe things have changed since I got mine swapped (it got bricked by the first major OTA it received) and new N4s were still available. Stocks must be lower now. A lot lower I'd guess.
