Hot and locked

My phone has, several times now, frozen while charging. It gets hot and the icons disappear so that I am just seeing the wallpaper. It won't turn off no matter how long I hold down the power button. I have to wait until it goes flat (which it does fairly quickly) then recharge and restart it.

Is this a known issue or is it just me?

I'm guessing your battery is dying

yep i agree with @Dannydet . it sounds like a battery issue and unfortunately the battery is not removable. devices these days are made to lost as long as the battery. lithium batteries are made to last about 3-4 years before they need to be replaced. you are well past that time.

i think it is time you look for a new phone.
