Help Hot Nexus 7

I had a weird problem on Friday and Saturday with my N7 which I thought I'd share. On Friday, I installed Verizon Messenger and got it working. Shortly afterwards I noticed the tablet was unusually warm. The battery had drained more that it ought to have for what I was doing (reading with the screen brightness near minimum). I figured it was the newly installed app so I uninstalled it, powered the tablet off and put it on charge, figuring the problem was solved.

Saturday morning I powered it on, checked Twitter then went to have my car serviced, bringing my N7 and my Nook with me for the several hour wait (belt and suspenders). As I sat down, I noticed the tablet was again warm and the battery was around 70% when it should have been in the high 90s. Since I had my Nook with me, I used it to read and ignored the tablet.

Once I got home I looked at what was beating the hell out of my battery and found it was Google Plus. I know it can be a pig so I always log out after I use it, which I did several days before. I disabled the app and charged the tablet again. I also reinstalled Verizon Messenger. It has been just fine ever since.

My point behind this is not that G+ stinks but that weird things happen occasionally and by using the tools built into Android, you can solve many of them. Google thought a lot of this out ahead of time so use the tools!

And yeah, the G+ app sometimes stinks too. ;)

G+ is more of a nuisance than tool for me. On both my N7 and Galaxy Nexus, it's always amongst the first apps I disable. It really is a battery hog because it syncs up so much
