That's still around? I was just reading that hotmail was being turned over to Outlook, and Hotmail was shutting down.
Anyway, I have found that just using the on line site of things like that is way better than using an app, especially when it comes to battery consumption and memory usage.
Just something to consider.

That app is a joke (see how Android Police is slashing it here: Microsoft Releases A Pathetic Excuse For An Outlook.com App Into The Play Store, No Point In Even Installing It)

Basically microsoft never put any effort in building a mail app. 5 years back they bought the Seven-team, which where independent dev's who put together a tiny little niche mail app, and renamed it Hotmail. Now - years later - they've rebranded the excact same Seven app and called it Outlook. Don't even bother using this. I'd stick to Maildroid - which can also push outlook mail.

I found the hotmail app also drained my battery really quickly. Tried going back to it several times but always found it to do the same thing. Gave up eventually and have just stuck with the stock email app. What i have done however is set the sync schedule to push during peak and manual during off peak and set my peak time from 8 in the morning till ten at night. I now find my battery time is excellent.

I agree with ToosPloos. I just downloaded the free version of MailDroid and I love it. It quickly set up my two hotmail accounts. I may add my gmail account later. The best part is, for every email you receive on your device, you can choose to either delete it from the device only, or from the device AND server (saving you time back at your desk!)

My only problem now is finding a way to sync my Hotmail calendar events. I really need this, because I use Windows Live Mail and prefer the Hotmail calendars.

I'd like to have a separate calendar app to do this, but so far the ones I've downloaded are not enabling Hotmail calendar.

When I went to check my settings, for some reason my Samsung Galaxy Prevail is only allowing google accounts to be added (in the "Settings" > "Accounts & Sync" ) It seems like something somewhere is gone, because I know last year I used settings to initially install the hotmail accounts!

Anybody have an idea how to get my Hotmail calendar events to my Droid?

I use Gemini calendar on my S3. When I go into settings on it, there is an option to set which calendar you use, this includes Hotmail. I don't use the Hotmail calendar myself so cant confirm if it syncs everything for you, but may be worth a try. Good luck.

OK, got the chance to test it and it seems to work OK. I went into Gemini calendar and then in preferences when asked for what calendar to use, I deselected my google calendar and chose Hotmail. Went into Hotmail calendar on my pc. added an entry and a few minutes later it appeared on the calendar on my S3 homescreen. It did take a few minutes whereas google entries appear a lot quicker, but it worked. One thing to add though and I noticed this difference when updating my wifes galaxy note the other day. When I went into her account settings on the note, it showed Hotmail as account. When I go into accounts on my S3 it shows as Microsoft exchange active sync, so this might have something to do with it. The link here How do I Set Up Microsoft

I read the reviews before updating, and then chose not to update the HOTMAIL app. Those sneaky bastards made the "update" to basically kill the current HOTMAIL app and force you to use OUTLOOK. Which apparently sux.

So I still use Hotmail app. Works for me and I like it better than the stock email app in terms of its layout. Have been too busy to test other options and don't want to pay for AquaMail or Touchdown or whatever.

Anyone know of a great, free, email app that is better than Hotmail or Stock Touchwiz and allows little checkboxes so I can check a bunch of things at once then hit delete? That is what I like about the Hotmail app....

There is a day coming not sure when that you will be forced to update. As stated above Hotmail is disappearing and becoming Outlook. There are many email app at Google Play, just read the reviews.
