how a 'ban' works

i see some users 'on probation' some 'banned' and some saay something like account delted whats the difference?

I'd think the "account deleted" would be by the user's choice, while probation means the person's very close to being banned if they don't straighten up. At least that's how it's worked on other forums I've been on.

Please note that I am not any type of staff member, so could quite easily be wrong.

im allways a lead citizen on boards never been banned never will be

 

[Phases]

Disabled - User requests the account be disabled but recoverable if they decide to come back.
Deleted (guest messages) - Users requests account be deleted with no plans to come back, unrecoverable.
On Probation - Nothing other than a public note saying they are on the edge of trouble.
No-Posting Probation - One step further. Can still read, PM, everything.. but not post.
Banned - banned from the site - can be temporary or permanent.
