How can I add new system sounds?

I have new system sounds in a new file on my SD card. I would like to use them as my phone ringing and notification sounds instead of the default sounds. How can I switch the sounds? I am a smart phone novice and very much a newbie. Thanks.

On your /sdcard area create folders for -

Ringtones
Notifications
Alarms

The system will find any mp3 file you place there and make it a choice as if built-in.

On older Androids, those need to be inside -

/sdcard/media/audio

I have a Moto G EXT. I made a folder for the new sounds on my SD card, but I can not get the phone to use the new folder. Are there any settings I need to change to access the new folder? Thanks.

Even though yours is newer, did you try it both ways?

If it still doesn't work, check out "Rings Extended"

Written by a Google Android engineer, good stuff, I've used it myself.

It doesn't care about folders.

Rings Extended works well. Thanks. I have another novice question. Some of the new sounds I have loaded are playing very softly and some play loud. The volume levels are the same for both and both are maxed out. The soft volume rises after 2 seconds but by then the sound is over?
