Help How can I begin using my Archos 70b?

I was directed to this site by a friend. He said I would probably get help here as I am totally helpless when it comes to tablets.
I purchased an Archos 70b tablet not realizing how difficult it would be to actually use it. First I have to get WiFi, then I have to learn how to use the many features of the tablet. And downloading the free apps included with the tablet is totally beyond me.
When I introduced myself I was directed to this forum for Archos 70b. I get here and find - nothing. No one has ever posted to this forum.
It wouldn't be so bad if I even knew what questions to ask to get started.
I received 2 cards with my Archos. One is the Tablet Productivity Suite, and has a specific Customer ID and Password.
The other is for Android Essentials 4.2, I went on site for the first one and was able to download the Greeting Card Designer but cannot use it bc I'm not connected to my computer. Apparently I need a router to do this.
I tried to download the Quickoffice Pro but it wants a program to download to. I have no idea what to use.
Then I tried to access the Android Essentials but it wouldn't let me bc I had already sign on with the Productivity Suite.
I'm at a complete loss as to what I have to do to begin using this wonderful device!
Any suggestions as to how I can learn what this is all about?

Hi Swamp this place is an excellent source of information for many many android devices, the forum that relates to my phone "samsung galaxy indulge" has 13,575 threads... anything and everything I want to do or know is pretty much available there.

I am shopping around trying to find a cheap and "as big as possible" Tablet for my 84 year old Mom for Christmas, she has no clue about electronics or computers etc.. but I think I could set it up to check a gmail account and teach her how to view pictures that the rest of the family sends her.

Anyway I saw a low price on this model at Tigerdirect.com and my natural response was to check forums here to see what people think....well there is a whole 3 threads (including yours I think) in this forum....so its not a very popular device. That doesn't mean it isn't good or it doesn't function, it just isn't popular with the people in "the know" who modify ROM's or other software that make this place something special.

I have been involved in computers and networking for years so all of this comes easy to me. Just from what you said about wifi etc... it sounds like the whole thing is a new experience for you. You really don't need a device specific forum to help you out, you need more of "I am new to" or "basic functions of Android devices" type of thing.

I don't know if they have general android areas here or not, I really have only been to one specific area(2 including this one) and the first one gave me more info than I could ever use about what I was looking for.

No threads or members to this area doesn't mean the tablet isn't good...it's definitely not top of the line but then again you could buy a $1000 tablet but you wouldn't use 80% of its options for a long time until you learn as you go.

If you do come back and read this post I hope you can find something just on the android software...that will help you out more than anything else.

good luck and enjoy your tablet

Hi Did you ever get started with your Archos 70b? I just bought one for my son and I've been trying to download apps for him but keep getting A Package file error. Any ideas?

Swampcat, you should look into setting up a wireless network so you can connect your tablet to it.

Brendon, yours is most likely a download error, clear your Google Play cache or wait it out, should clear up.
