how can I highlight a phone number and call or text it?

Hello all. I'm brand new with android. Obviously I came from iOS.

I use craigslist a lot. In the adds people often post their phone numbers as 555-555-5555. Or 555 555 5555. Or even 5555555555. Once in a blue moon they'll write it (555)555-5555.

Now coming from iOS one could simply press the number (which iOS usually highlited blue) and you'd get a pop-up. "Voice dial or send text message". Now isn't that fffffffing convenient. (Go ahead. Try it now using android with the numbers I've provided).

The funniest thing is, on an android there is a pop-up for text messaging but if you choose that it ends up in the body of a text message with still no number to text.

Please tell me there is a way without copy past to clipboard.

Please help.

Dependent on the app. Third party apps may have it. The problem is that Android had this before, but Apple sued manufacturers like HTC to remove it because apparently they have it patented. So only in certain apps can this be done now.

This used to work on Android as well, but Apple sued for patent infringement. This feature has since been removed from Android.

I'll leave my commentary on the subject for a different thread...
