Help How can I install Android 5.0 or higher on my Moto X 2014?

I bought My (verizon) Moto X through the design your own shop in January of 2014. Despite a healthy case of buyers remorse due to numerous inherent annoying glitches, (looks pretty, not very functional) I have resisted rooting it because I wanted to be sure to get the update to lollipop.
Well, here it is more than a year later, and still no lollipop. When I look at the settings, it tells me that my device is up to date with Android 4.4.4. What the hell???!!!
Any help with obtaining Lollipop for my thin blue failure of a phone will be GREATLY appreciated.

Well I can't speak for Verizon, I'm on AT&T and just got the notification update this morning. Now in my case, I'm not updating, as I have had Lolipop on a few devices prior to coming back to Moto X, and there were features I didn't like, like the sound silencing for one. I would be patient, I'm sure you will be getting it soon

Sounds like you have a 1st Gen Moto X, you may want to go to that forum and maybe get your question answered there. This forum is for the 2nd Gen Moto X.
