Help How can I make Hangouts Dialer my default calling app in Android 10 SamsungS9

I have a Samsung S9+ that has upgraded to Android 10. While it was still in Android Pie, I could select/highlight a phone number, and the context menu that pops up lets me place a call on Hangouts Dialer.

But now on Android 10, I don't have that option.

I've gone to Settings-> apps -> three dots top right-> default apps.

The phone is not rooted.

well according to google's hangout support, you can't make it your default unfortunately.

Make a phone call
You can’t make Hangouts your default calling app, but you can choose the Hangouts Dialer when you call someone from a website or app.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Hangouts Dialer app

2. Type the person's name or phone number, and select them from the search results. To dial a number, at the bottom, tap Dialpad

Thanks for your reply. Is there a way to override this restriction? Like, is there an app that I can install that can serve as a bridge to making Hangouts Dialer my default app?

This is my one regret with upgrading to Android 10.
