Hi

Sorry for newbie question, but how do I put a simple password onto my Samsung Galaxy Note v1 running JB?

I don't want to encrypt my entire phone because it is already far too d*mned slow as it is! And I dont know what my password is for my SIM card - how would I find out?

Hello,

I'm not sure about how to find out your SIM password but to put a password on the device go to Settings > Security (under the personal heading) > Then the first option is "Screen lock" where you can select how you want the device to be unlocked, for example you can have a passcode, pattern or facial recognition.

As for your device slowing down, you might want to check what apps are running in the background. Could be a good idea to start a separate thread about it as if it's as slow as it sounds it doesn't seem very acceptable.

Found it. Couldnt see for looking! It wasnt quite where you said though, it is Settings > Personal > "Lock Screen" has its own menu item NOT inside "Security", a fact which confused me!
Thanks
J
