Root How can I tell if I rooted my phone?

How can I tell if I rooted my phone correctly? After trying for hours, I found a script online which claims to have rooted my phone. I was able to delete somethings on the main screens, but in the apps windows not working. Since I'm a nube at phone tech stuff, is there an east way to verify if my phone has been rooted?

Download and install terminal emulator from the market and open it up. Type "su" no quotes and hit enter. You should see a popup asking for superuser permissions. Then you will be at a # prompt instead of a $ prompt. You are root. Or you could check in your app drawer and see if you have an app called superuser installed :) but root checker on the market works too
