Help How can I uninstalled pre-installed apps like amazonmp3?

If you use Launcher Pro home screen replacement that allows you to hide apps you don't want to see in your app tray...no rooting required.

How so? I've had Launcher Pro for awhile and didnt know about that. Does it keep them from running in the background as well?

Go to menu - preferences from your home screen. then go to general settings then hidden apps. As far as I know it only hides them. It dose not prevent them running in the background.

You don't need to worry about those apps "running in the background"--they're not, even if Task Killers show that they are. (You shouldn't be using those to begin with anyway--Google gutted their functionality in Android 2.2, which the Droid 2 runs, because they cause battery and stability problems, not fix them.)

Here's what an Android developer says about those "running" tasks:
Android Developers Blog: Multitasking the Android Way
"A common misunderstanding about Android multitasking is the difference between a process and an application. In Android these are not tightly coupled entities: applications may seem present to the user without an actual process currently running the app; multiple applications may share processes, or one application may make use of multiple processes depending on its needs; the process(es) of an application may be kept around by Android even when that application is not actively doing something.

The fact that you can see an application's process "running" does not mean the application is running or doing anything."

Nice post, Joe...breaking this misconception about worry about running processes is almost impossible, unfortunately.

Best advice, as noted, is to let Android be...
