Apps How can I wipe/factory reset the device?

There are a half-dozen or more programs out there that can be installed on any Android phone, and then be used to remotely wipe (factory reset) the phone. Comodo and Avast are two such programs.

I would like to include that ability (to wipe the phone) in an application that I am writing.

I found the RecoverySystem class, but those methods require the REBOOT permission, which us mire mortals can not get.

Is there any way I can get this ability in my program?
