According to research I've been doing Google's Chrome browser on my Galaxy 6 won't support these types of add-ons. On my PC I installed Firefox and the popular Ad-block add-on and life's been great.

Do I really have to install Firefox and a ad-blocker again on the phone ? I expected this from Microsoft but not from Google. There are android ad-blockers browsers but heck if I have to install a browser to have ad-block included I might as well install Firefox right ?

How come:
  • Content providers serve up content in exchange for displaying ads. If everyone blocked ads, there would be very little incentive for anyone to put anything on the internet
  • A significant portion of Google's revenue comes from ads.
Of course that doesn't matter much to an individual user. And oddly enough google does allow "ad block plus" add-in on the pc version of google chrome browser. I think it was some kind of a deal which gave their ads more favorable treatment.

I've used Firefox with Adaway on Android- it works (no root required). It is a little slow though. Particularly on news.google.com - ridiculously slow. But also on other sites.

Adaway is a free open source solution that needs root, I used it for awhile on my last phone and was pretty satisfied. Been running without any ad block for the last four months on my new phone... ads don't seem as bad as they used to be on the sites I visit.

Why does Google (a company that makes practically all of its revenue from ads), want to prevent you from installing an ad-blocker that blocks legitimate ads? Hmmm... I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that it might have something to do with the root of all evil.

Speaking of root... You might want to root and install Adaway, or install an ad-free browser. (I'm actually amazed that Google even allows people to install ad-free browsers.)

Try this:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Spot...or-Android-with-an-ad-blocker-no-root_id70983

Or this, which I currently have on my phone:
https://block-this.com/
This is extremely effective & by far,the simplest Ad Blocker for non-rooted devices I've come across to-date.It blocks ads throughout the entire phone,an advantage that NoChromo does not currently offer.
