Help how could i fix my android phone system?

my android phone says unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has been stopped. how could i fix this problem?

Have you tried rebooting? Battery pull (if possible?).
Did this happen out of the blue or after an update? Are you rooted? What device make/model/carrier do you have?
What have you tried so far (if anything) to resolve it?
How old is the device? Has it gotten wet or dropped?
