i just can not wrap my head around it ..

thank you ..

Devs have had almost two years now to get their stuff fixed, since Kitkat. If you have a problem with a particular app, email the devs, see what they have to say about it. Or if the app is discontinued and unsupported, hard luck, you'll have to find an alternative.

That's fair enough, the S6 likely has enough internal storage for many users. But in my situation I have 16GB internal, plus 64GB SD, which I use for docs and media.

"Android don't allow app to write.... We can't solve this problem!" FAIL! ....look for a better app I think.

The app developer is too lazy to update their code to comply with the required read/write permissions for Android v4.4.

It's much easier for them to plop a silly message on the screen.

Dump the developer's app until they get their junk together...
mate

i want to view and delete pictures i took with a camera!

any 3rd party app is now prevented from doing that

Mate, which app are you using to view/delete your pics?
Is that the third party app you are referring to?

Most third-party apps have no problems with 4.4, 5.0, etc. and external SDs. :thumbsupdroid:

But then there will always be incompetent developers, who don't really know what they're doing.

The built-in camera or another external camera?

How did the pictures get there in the first place? If taken by the phone's camera then opening Gallery and long-pressing to select should allow deletion. If copied from an external source then the same method should also let you delete them.

yes any third party app is prevented from doing that

lets take a look at the scenario

imagine all of a sudden on Windows all your image viewing apps were useless ..

in fact all apps that tried to write to HD!!

they should provide an option to disable this (read o.ly protection) for advanced users (tbat do not instal BS apps that currupt data)

(in my screenshot it is one of top pic view...apps: QickPic.. but couls be any of dozen best applications .... there is no work around they can make)

mate I take pictures with regular built in camera and regular app.. on Galaxy Note 3

they are written to SD card..

now any app that tries to edit them/delete them fails :/

If the app that took the pictures and wrote them to disk can't delete them, then as noted previously it's the app that's at fault.

I'll also ask again... can pictures be deleted from Gallery? As it's a pre-installed system app there should be no permissions issue.

FWIW, I sometimes use Quickpic, have photos on SD, and I've never seen it do that error. Was using 4.4.4 Kitkat, now on 5.0 Lollipop, no problems at all. Can view, edit, copy and delete photos using Quickpic. This is latest version on an Oppo Find 7.
