How did you get into Nexus devices?

As we wait for the imminent launch of the Nexus 5, lets talk how you guy into buying nexus devices. For me, I remember about 4 years ago or so I bought the HTC HD2 (horrible windows phone) and returned it within buyers remorse. I did massive research online after that and found the Nexus One to mentioned a few times because it was the first phone to sport a 1 GHz processor. I paid $500 for it which I wont forget haha and I still have it. Honestly the Nexus One is definitely one of my favorite android/nexus phone of all time. After the N1, I upgraded to every nexus device until the Nexus 4. I also purchased the Nexus 7 tablet.
 
All the hype around the Nexus One did it for me. I think I had an HTC Hero at the time (GSM Chin version) after owning the HTC G1 so I was already into Android.

At the time the Nexus One seemed like an amazing device (it was) and to this date the purchase of a phone has rarely matched the expectation like the N1 did (the GNex was close for me though).
 
I, like many others, started with my beloved G1; and I still believe that was the ORIGINAL android nexus device though it wasn't labeled as such. Then, I got the Nexus One, which was a great flagship android device. Then got the GNexus, loved it, still using it today! Got the Nexus 4, but ended up giving to my family member because they had a bigger need for an upgrade than i did (but it was hard to let it go). Now, once this baby comes out, it shall be mine until the next nexus device with 64bit support and octa core processor comes out :D

I agree, N1 definitely raised the bar and its brothers didn't really come that close to it in my opinion.

I'd say the Nexus S was the weaker out of the bunch. I did not like the texture of the phone at all really and the screen was horrible quality to me.
