Help How do I add another Default Messaging App?

I have a Samsung Grand Prime, Android 5.1.1
I have installed TextMe on it several times, but though the app is installed and works fine, I do not see it under Settings | More connection settings | Default Messaging App. TextMe is the app I need as default messaging app. How can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

You're the P.I., figure it out, Jim! Just kidding but I loved that show. Open the messaging app you want to use. There should be a setting to make it the default app, usually a 3 dot in the upper right of the screen.

Wow. I just tried it, full of ads and it's not a genuine messaging app after all. That's why you can't make it default.
If I we're you I'd uninstall and use Textra instead...

Try Settings > Applications. Locate the messaging app which is currently your default. Press on "open by default" or "default settings" depending on how its worded, then choose option to clear defaults. Next open the MessageMe app and try sending a text. You should get a prompt to use that app once or always. Choose the always option and it should then become the default messaging app.

I'm not sure why your previous method didn't work as you seem to have a couple ways of getting the same result but the above listed method is the original Android method of forcing a default app and it should work on any device.
