Root how do I back my galaxy note 10.1 factory rom

I want to start playing arround with custom roms and the development but before I load any custom rom I want to backup my factory rom. It hasn't been touched. How do I go on about doing this.

It's a chicken and egg situation. You want to make what's called a nandroid backup (Android NAND memory), but to do that you have to install a custom recovery, CWM or TWRP. So you can't fully back up the untouched phone.

if I install a custom rom and want to go back to the factory default rom I can't do that?
