Help How Do I Backup to PC... I Don't Use GMail

Hi,
first, thank you in advance for your help. Second, I don't use GMail, and have no interest in using it. I haven't rooted my phone.... yet. I will, but not until I have backed up my existing contacts and emails that are on the phone. So does anyone know how to backup my phone to my PC (the phone is an LG Optimus 2X running Froyo). I can get the pictures and video off myself. Not knowing how to is the only thing from rooting my phone and installing cyanogen. Yeah, I know I sound pretty lame, but this doesn't appear to be as straight forward as it should be. It seems Google really wants you to backup to GMail, which makes sense since they make their money off of your data. I don't like helping them. :)

So how about it folks, there has to be some app or method for getting my data off of my phone and onto my PC. After all if a company as lame as Apple can figure out how to do it, it MUST be possible with an Android.

Regards.

When you root it. Download clockworkmod (rom manager) and do a nanroid backup.

Then connect your phone to the PC. Go into clockworkmod>>>backups>> and click and drag the file (should be a date of when you done it) and that's it.

Good luck!
